Here we have a pair of woman’s, velvet bras straight from the 1980’s and I know because I purchased them from the famous Filene’s Basement in Boston Ma at that time. The first made by Carol Malony is a luscious, lipstick, red bra and the label says size 38B which does measure out to be 38 at its last hook and 34 at the first hook. This is a never been worn item, however the original tag fell off in storage. I think perhaps products by that company are still made today. The bottom half of the cup is red velvet and the top half is a gathered/draped, polka dot, red, chiffon fabric. It has a covered under-wire, a velvet button in the middle, adjustable length straps and a narrow 1 hook closure in the back. A barely, legible label says it is made of 100% polyester and to hand wash only. The second bra is a “New With Tags” black, velvet bra and the label says it is a size 34D. In my opinion after stretching the bra, the largest it gets in the last hook is 31 inches and 24 inches in the first hook. This one also has a covered under-wire, adjustable straps, but with a wider 2 hook closure in back and wider straps at the top of the shoulder. The brand name is no longer attached, however the directions state to hand wash and hang to dry as well. These are two great, quality, vintage, velvet bras that are being sold as a set even though they are different sizes. I know you can buy velvet bras today, but they are not made as well as these are.
